'mendicant bias zeta halo' is an ongoing research project by David Addison stemming from the initial question: which two pieces of music would you like played at your funeral?
Submissions will be compiled and aim to inform a visual art project in 2018. Possible outcomes include a public exhibition, critical text(s), digital archive, printed publication or presentation within an audio format.
Please share with anyone you feel may be interested or benefit in somehow from tackling the question. A varied dataset of ages, locations, gender and cultural identities will help realise a more fully formed response and critical understanding. If you would like to discuss any aspects of the project in further detail then please get in touch at email@example.com
All submissions can be made anonymously, if contact details are provided then any personal data will be stored securely and if presented publically you will be consulted for consent before any distinguising information is released in a public facing format.
A 'song' here is defined as any piece of recorded music or other composition of sound, instrumental or otherwise. Please supply the performer(s) of your chosen version of the piece rather than original writer if different.
n. a member of any of several orders of friars that originally forbade ownership of property, subsisting mostly on alms. The Halo Array is a group of fictional megastructures and superweapons in the Halo science fiction franchise, consisting of ringworlds known as Halos built by structures known as the Ark. Some fans assert that Zeta Halo is the home of a device that will allow Master Chief to disconnect Cortana from the Domain. The ‘rebooting’ of the Domain bothers me as well, as Promises To Keep feels like a real band aid on one of the things Halo 5 never addresses. I am lost in time. The entire structure dropped slowly below the ground into the void and the foundation metal, its blue lines pulsing more and more slowly. Will Miranda and Johnson, who have lived through the entire war, be able to bring it to an end? Mendicant was sentenced and locked away on the Ark installation. Fred eyed her for a moment before replying "Mendicant Bias is currently in the towers central console, we are waiting for him to report back". Goodbye, Your loving father. Mendicant Bias has a high probability of breaching the barrier, when he does, the Halo Array will be activated. Secondly, prior to the encounter between the Primordial and Mendicant Bias, Zeta Halo was also home to special Flood research facilities that Master Builder Faber, leader of the Forerunners, used to try and find a cure for the Flood by purposefully infecting ancient humans and using them as test subjects. When the Master Chief awakened the Didact, he emerged with a renewed passion for vengeance and set out to obtain the means to accomplish his goal of ensuring that only the Forerunners would hold the Mantle. Cutscenes with them speaking directly to John-117 and even a unique monitor housing in gameplay. The Librarian had pinned all of her hopes on the Ur-Didact, her husband. A second Contender, known as Offensive Bias, was created to combat Mendicant. Indeed, the very first track you hear in Halo 4, every time you get to the main menu, is called Atonement. The dialogue here references “seeking forgiveness,” which is a central beat in Mendicant’s story, as they betrayed the Forerunners to the Flood. (Sorry Jeff! 05-032 Mendicant Bias was a Contender-class Ancilla. In the thousands of years that followed, countless species were laid low by the Covenant’s might and either cast aside or assimilated. Considering the fact that they’re literally made up of multiple minds and the gender-ambiguous description we receive from Vinnevra in Halo: Primordium where she describes Mendicant’s voice as both male and female, this seems most appropriate. It was destroyed by Flood-infected battleship that had destroyed the Forerunner vessel that was ferrying it to the Ark. On the Ark, it attempted to communicate with John-117 through Terminals, claiming it sought atonement by helping the Spartan. Those Forerunners a like oh so totally nubs;) Mendicant Bias on the Forerunners The story of Mendicant Biased takes place back in the day in the time of before Halo stuff. Mendicant Bias was listed missing by the Master Builder before returning to overlook the second testing of the halo on the San'Shyuum quarantine system. I really do want Mendicant to return in 6/Infinite, if we do end up on the Ark or Installation 07 I would like Mendicant to take a direct role in the game. If only Mendy B had known where the breaks were! But what was Mendicant actually up to at this time? Exactly what form that assistance took is uncertain. The now rampant Mendicant then attacked with a fleet of over five million ships and completely obliterated the Maginot Sphere, and forced the Forerunners to accelerate work on the Halo Array. In order to give them time to complete the Halos' work, the Forerunners created another AI, Offensive Bias, to slow Mendicant Bias' advance. As I’ve previously written, the theme of Halo 3, as I see it, is not about resolution, but fulfilment. Mendicant Bias sent the logs of his interrogation to his Forerunner masters, who apparently never received the transmissions. This eventually gave way to the War of Wills, which began as the Reformist faction of San’Shyuum demanded access to the Keyship, provoking the wrath of the Stoics who believed that Forerunner technology must be revered – that to actually use it was an act of blasphemy. A Contender is no ordinary AI, however. Gazing through the giant used to be window. "Mendicant" : adj. The remaining seven returned to the Ark along with Bornstellar-Makes-Eternal-Lasting, the Councilor Splendid Dust of Ancient Suns, and the Warrior Servant Glory of a Far Dawn.. Mendicant Bias smiled sadly, 'And now we die.' Began service What position do I take? Mendicant Bias' presence was known to the Covenant and it was regarded as an Oracle. Late 2552 (Possibly destroyed on Installation 00 on December 11th 2552) “It was known as Installation 07. Who will live to return here? n. a person who lives by begging; beggar. Masculine programming The path ahead is fraught with peril. And so here at the end of my life, I do once again betray a former master. Affiliation Your processes locked, frozen into a single thought for all eternity: absolution. Mendicant Bias is a Contender-class artificial intelligence who has been in the shadows of the lore since Halo 2. The word "Mendicant" comes from the Latin Mendicansand describes those, particularly from religious orders, who survive purely on charity and begging. Write the first paragraph of your page here. Because of this, the Keyship crashed into Janjur Qom and created a crater on the planet’s surface that could be seen from orbit – the Great Apothtea. In 2525, Mendicant attempted to launch the Keyship, an act which would have critically damaged or even destroyed High Charity. His tone sounded almost wistful. Notable battles At the end of this conflict, the Reformists succeed in launching the Keyship and leaving their homeworld behind as they sailed out among the stars…. A second Contender, known as Offensive Bias, was created to combat Mendicant. pertaining to or characteristic of a beggar. A.I. This was part of the Didact’s plan to combat the Flood when they inevitably returned to the galaxy after their mysterious retreat. He was the most advanced Forerunner AI at the time of his creation, and was charged with organizing the Forerunner defense against the Flood before his defection to the Gravemind, who ultimately caused him to become rampant, and turn against his creators. The key thing here is that this was the final devastating reveal from the Gravemind, that firing the Halos to wipe the board clean would destroy all the countless billions of years of collective knowledge and wisdom within it – thus, Mendicant wouldn’t have known that the Didact would awaken still mad.
